HIT Platform™ is an online toolkit and open platform for rapidly creating healthcare software solutions for your customers…

WHY HIT PLATFORM™?  Today’s healthcare organizations need an open alternative to costly EHR software. Here, you will find easy-to-use tools for deploying custom software solutions for healthcare organizations. The point-and-click wizard walks you through the steps to set up clinical “workspaces”, business processes and record management solutions on (or off) the cloud.

IT’S OPEN: The open platform incorporates core EHR functions, such as for security, records management and interoperability. The API empowers advanced developers to build and integrate enterprise-class software on top of the platform.  The API is open, so that you can integrate with open source and legacy systems from multiple vendors without ever being locked into a single vendor for all your needs.

ROLE-BASED WORKFLOW: IT Platform features Role-based Workflow, a patented NIST invention that can provide order-of-magnitude improvements in patient privacy.

Role-based Workflow grants situational (need to know) access to medical records, as an alternative to overly broad access to medical records.  Virtual Global has engineered Role-based Workflow into a web services library, which is integrated into HIT Platform™.  It is also available separately for integration into your own software systems.

PRODUCT HISTORY: HIT Platform was engineered under sponsorship from NASA and NIST.  The architecture is based on a NASA-sponsored TeamHost™ platform as a service (PaaS) for rapidly deploying large and complex software systems in less time, risk and cost.  In 2008-2010, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) sponsored SBIR Phases I and II to integrate Role-based Workflow into the platform for Health IT applications to create HIT Platform™, a special-purpose Platform as a Service (PaaS) for Health IT.  The SBIR is moving into the Phase III commercialization stage.

FEDERAL CUSTOMERS: HIT Platform™, Role-based Workflow, and other derivative works are readily available to federal agencies via a Phase III “contracting vehicle”.
